Saunaoneday is a sauna life brand that supports improving the "Quality of Sauna Life" of working people. It is a new brand launched by TEAM ONE DAY Co., Ltd., which mainly produces running pouches used by marathon runners and triathletes during races.
The brand originated when Omura, the representative of TEAM ONE DAY, saw the Instagram of Sumida Kiichi, a heat wave designer, and contacted him.
Saunaoneday was born from the crossover of the company's CEO, Omura's desire to support the idea of "someday for sure," and Sumida's own experience of using saunas to generate ideas and improve work performance.
To find out how they came up with a product that stands out from other sauna products, we interviewed Sumida Kiichi, the supervisor of Saunaoneday, who is currently based in Melbourne, Australia.
Q.What thoughts are behind Saunaoneday's five products and logo?
I highly recommend saunas to anyone looking to update their work style. As our brand statement states, "Quality of Sauna Life," our mission is to improve the quality of sauna life for working people. At its core, our products and logo reflect our desire to support those who work hard every day. Each of our five products features features designed to help you incorporate sauna time into your daily routine, and we've unified them with a businesslike design to make sauna time feel like part of your workday. Our brand logo is based on a single, cursive script that expresses the journey to achieving your "someday, for sure" dream. The "S" is shaped like the ladle and steam used in a loyly bath, and the dot at the end of the letter represents the goal of living each day with purpose.
Q. Why did you choose the Sauna Life Bag as your signature item?
I thought that if the business bag I use every day was designed to carry both work tools and sauna gear, it would be easier to create a style that allows me to balance work and sauna. I also wanted to convey that for people who go to the sauna every day, a tote bag that doesn't bunch up on the back is a better fit than a backpack. I haven't heard much about tote bags with a "business x sauna" concept, so I thought it would be a good fit as a signature item for Saunaoneday.
Q. What are the points you pay particular attention to when using a sauna life bag for work?
First of all, it's large enough to fit a 16-inch laptop and weighs just 670g. Surprisingly, there aren't many business bags that can fit this size, and even if there are, they're heavy, so I think this is simply an excellent business bag. It also has a hidden short handle on the inside, which makes it convenient for quick movements around the office and gives it a smart appearance when visiting a client.
Q. What are the important points to pay attention to when using the Sauna Life Bag in a sauna?
I joined a gym with a sauna so I could go to the sauna every day. Since I often wear a swimsuit in the sauna at the gym, I made the large pockets on both sides out of waterproof material so I could store my wet swimsuit and sandals directly in them. Also, rings and accessories are easy to lose in the sauna, so it's a good idea to store them on a carabiner. You can attach them to the key ring on the inside of the bag, so please give it a try.
Q. Why is the spa clutch bag designed to hold a bottle, towel and sauna hat?
We wanted to keep the towel and sauna hat packable so that they wouldn't take up too much space inside the sauna life bag and could be easily carried around the bathroom.
Q. How do I fold the Cool Dry Towel?
Fold it in four so that the logo is on the front, then fold and roll it until it becomes compact and secure with a band. It may seem difficult at first, but once you get used to it, you'll be able to do it without a table.
Q. Please tell me how to fold the Daily Sauna Hat.
Fold it in thirds, roll it up, and secure it with a band. This is easy.
QDo you have any ideas for your next product?
We haven't decided yet, but we don't intend to simply increase the number of products. We hope to be able to identify the products we need by listening to the feedback from Saunaoneday users.
Q. Tell us about an experience where a sauna and heat wave saved you.
Perhaps it's unique to creative jobs in Tokyo, but being busy and lacking time is the norm, and I sometimes felt limited by the constant demand for new ideas. Just as I began to question whether it was possible to produce good creative work while constantly overwhelmed, a junior colleague introduced me to saunas. That sauna experience was incredibly special; it felt like all the bad things that had built up in my life had been cleansed, and I felt like creative ideas were about to spring forth. Since then, my perception of saunas has completely changed. I now use saunas as a place to maintain my creative self, and when I can't do anything else, I go to soak up the heat. Discovering this style has given me confidence and a sense of ease, and my work and personal life have surprisingly improved. I believe that by approaching any job with a healthy mind and body, your work performance will improve.
